Frank L. Mercurio Sr., Age 79, passed away peacefully on Aug. 28, 2017. He was lovingly surrounded by his family during Hospice care at his home in Oxford, NY. Frank was born in Nutley, NJ being the 9th of 10 children born to Louis & Anna Mercurio. He took great pride in his Italian family heritage. From there, the family values instilled in him were passed down to his own family. From his childhood to his immediate family of today, his family closeness was strongly important and deeply valued. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He was self-employed many years as a roofing/siding contractor. He performed his trade with meticulous skills and pride in his workmanship.
Frank enjoyed the outdoors, his grandchildren's sports events, hunting, and a passion for fishing with friends and family. He loved family golf outings, his friends of the Sidney Center Rod & Gun Club horseshoe league and fun-spirited times of many backyard picnic games with family and friends.
Frank married his wife of 59 years, Susan (Flumerfelt) on Aug. 2, 1958. He pursued her heart after randomly meeting her after a high school pep rally…..and the rest is history.
