Alayne marie simmonds

Alayne M. Simmonds, 80, of Greene, NY passed away quietly and peacefully at her home on the evening of September 2, 2016 with those that she loved by her side. She was born April 18, 1936 in Johnson City, NY. Alayne was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Dorothy Bryant as well as her brother Norman Bryant and brother in law Donald Phelps. She will be dearly missed by her loving family; Donald R Simmonds, devoted husband of 61 years, their children Sherry (Charlie) Brown, Lanette (Loren) Breck, Jeff Simmonds, Jo Ann (Rich) Deady, and Rob (Amy) Simmonds. She had several grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought a twinkle to her eye; Andrew, Mariellen, Brian, Lee, Corey, Emily, Kristin, Ryan, Nicholas, David, Greta, Paige, Liam, Maisey, Bensen, and Alayna. Also surviving are her brother Wayne (Char) Bryant, sister in law Sandra Bryant, and sister in law Joan Phelps and several nieces and nephews. Early on Alayne decorated and sold wedding and birthday cakes. She worked several years as a teacher's aide while her children were young. She went on to become a beautician and had her shop in her home for 29 years. She truly enjoyed her work and the customers that became dear friends over the years. Alayne loved the sounds of her church chimes playing in her neighborhood, tole painting, when her grandchildren sang, giggled or performed, her beloved Patches and Mandy dog, time spent at Ludlow Lake and camping trips. The family would like to especially thank Chantel for her loving care and the Lourdes Hospice staff. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church, Greene with Pastor the Rev. Curtis Whitman officiating. Friends may call at the Kennedy Funeral Home 21 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY on Friday, September 9th from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Lourdes Hospice.
