Alida Marie Klopman, 86 of Oxford, NY passed away on June 15, 2014 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford. She was born on August 4, 1927 in Montclair, NJ a daughter of the late Barney and Gertrude (Memelaar) Gnade. She is survived by her faithful husband Lambert Klopman.
Besides her husband, Lambert, she is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Lois and Louis Wright of Washingtonville, NY; Donna and Peter Faber of Oxford, NY; Sherrill and Dick Schipper of Holland, MI; and son in law Jim Faber; her sisters, Dorothy Van DeWeert, Toni Steenstra, Elaine Boot, and Ruth Ann Warnet; and her sister in law, Hummy Klopman; as well as
twelve grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughters, Ellen Faber and infant daughter, Lois.
She was a long time member of the Midland Park Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Christian Reformed Church, where she was active in many organizations. After moving to the NYS Veterans Home, she became a resident volunteer. She loved helping others and enjoyed the many activities the Vets Home offered. She loved to play Bingo and share a joke or two with others.
A family memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the NYS Veterans Home, Memorial Fund, 4207 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830.
