Barbara n kelsey

Barbara N. Kelsey, 104, died at Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Home August 3, 2022. Her passing was quick and peaceful. Born in Hammondsport, NY, Barbara grew up in Medina, NY and later lived in Lockport, NY and wintered in Englewood, Fl. She moved to McDonough in 1997. She was predeceased by her first husband, Roland L. Bateman, and he second husband, Robert B. Kelsey. She is survived by her son, Fred Bateman, daughter-in- law Suzanne Bloom, grandchildren Noah and Jesse Bateman and their families, step daughter Jane Kelsey, and her sister Ruth’s daughters and son and their families.

Barbara was active in the Presbyterian Church in Lockport, and later the United Methodist Churches in Englewood, Fl and in Oxford, NY. She led senior citizen trips to Europe and Hawaii. She was physically active well into her 90’s, still riding her two wheeler in Florida.

She was kind to everyone and interested in what they were doing. She made people feel comfortable and appreciated. She remembered birthdays and anniversaries. She was the “Sunshine Lady” who wrote sympathy and get well cards for her mobile home park. And she was stylish, carefully selecting her clothes and having her hair and nails done regularly.
