Barbara P. Black, 95 of Oxford passed away on November 12, 2017. Barbara was born in Rochester, NY. Daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Byrne) Palmer. Barbara was married to Dr. Hugh D. Black who passed away on May 8, 1989.
Barbara is survived by her sons James and Kathy Black of Guilford, NY, and Richard and Tammy Black of Portland, OR; her daughters Patti Giltner of Norwich, NY and Lynda Roach of McDonough, NY. Also surviving Barbara are her grandchildren Conor Black, Christopher Black, Rebecca Giltner and Eric Jaffe, Aaron and Tiffany Giltner, and Jarrett and Sarah Black; and her great grandchildren Grayson Black, Mya Black, Nicholas Black, Soraya Khanifar, Madelyn Giltner, Keira Giltner, and Stella Giltner. She was predeceased by her friend and companion Anthony Paino.
Barbara was a Registered Nurse and worked with her husband and later at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY. She was a homemaker and enjoyed needle point and reading. She also loved Guilford lake and her home there. She graduated from Rochester Business Institute and Syracuse Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Alpha Omega Sorority, and The Agenda Honorary Society.
