Cecile l. bartle

Cecile L. Bartle, 78 of Oxford passed away on October 28, 2016 at Cortland Park Nursing Home. She was born on August 8, 1938 in Andover, NJ a daughter of the late J. Elsworth and Leona (Stickles) Orr. On April 6, 1963 in Greene, she married Gordon Bartle, who passed away on June 10, 1983.
She is survived by her children, Michael Bartle and Christine Allen of Bloomfield and Pamela and Dave Basile of Cortland; her brother, Neal and Sally Orr of Muncy, PA; her grandchildren, Anthony Basile, Vincent Basile, Grace Bartle and Gordon Bartle, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Carlton Orr and Gwene Orr.
Cecile worked at Chenango Mutual Insurance in Norwich for many years. She was a long-time member of the Preston Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a former member of the 4-H. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and knitting. She belonged to the Home Bureau. She was an honorary member of the Lake Steere Club.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY with Richard Howard officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
