Christopher ("Chuck") Berresford died in his home in Oxford, NY in October. He was 38 and moved to Oxford in July.
Born in New York City, he spent most of his life as an apartment-dweller, but he always loved the outdoors. Chuck enjoyed travel, hiking, photography, gardening, and botany. During his undergraduate years at Washington University in St. Louis he majored in Asian Studies, minored in Business, and spent a term in China. After graduating, his entrepreneurial spirit and ability to speak Mandarin led him to start a small company. Its main product was the Tigo Filter Cup, a slim thermos for brewing and drinking loose-leaf tea with a rotating strainer that prevented the leaves from getting in one's mouth. Chuck worked with manufacturers in China to produce the Tigo Cup, which he then imported and marketed here with a variety of special green teas, also imported from China.
After almost four decades of city-dwelling, Chuck sought a peaceful place to live, which he found in Oxford, NY. He took pride in his new home, and he adored his backyard!
Chuck is survived by his parents, Geoffrey and Barbara Berresford, his sister Lee Berresford Garner, all of New York City. We will miss him forever.
