Daniel "Danny" "Bumpa" Williams, 64 of Oxford went to be with his Lord on February 23, 2015. He was born on August 3, 1950 in Norwich a son of the Harry and Barbara (More) Williams, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Paula (English) Williams of Oxford; his mother, Barbara Williams of Oxford; his children and grandchildren, Luke and Ashley Williams and children, Emily, Haley and Addison of Oxford, Paul and Lacey Williams of Oneonta, Seth and Sarah Williams and daughter Maggie of Norwich, and Sarah and Matthew Leach and children, Clara and Reid of Oxford; his brothers and sisters, Harry and Christine Williams, Jr. of Temple, TX, Michael and Carol Williams of Oxford, Peter and Mary Williams of Norwich, Dorothy and James Boyd of Willow Springs, NC, Katherine and Michael Wilcox of Greene, and Susanna Colquitt of Oxford; his mother in law, Susan English of Greene; his brothers in law and sisters in law, Jon and Kathy English of Piffard, NY, Tom and Karen Zabadal of St. Joseph, MI, and Chris and Jo Ann English of Greene. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his father, Harry Williams, Sr.
Danny was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School. He served in the US Army as a helicopter pilot during the Viet Nam War and received 5 Air Medals and 3 Bronze Stars. He was a former town justice for the Town of Smithville and had also been a Deputy Sheriff for Chenango County. He was currently serving as Treasurer of the Warn Ten Broeck Cemetery and on the Board of Commissioners of the Brisben Fire Department. He was a member of Faith Bible Church in Oxford, where he served on the Advisory Board and Treasurer and sang in the choir. He was known for his quick dry wit and being practical and down to earth. He loved helping others and being Mr. Fix-It. He enjoyed being an outdoorsman, woodworker, farmer and taking care of animals. He formerly flew an ultra-light and small engine planes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at11:00 AM from Faith Bible Church, 45 Butler St., Oxford, NY with Rev. Norman Holtz officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Warn Ten Broeck Cemetery.
