It is with great sadness that the family of Dilon J. Dickerson, 29, of Greene, NY announce that he peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on January 4, 2025. Dilon entered this world on June 11, 1995, full of promise, fortitude, and a bit of sass. Dilon was predeceased by his grandparents: Matthew J. Taylor and Robert and Olga Dickerson. He is survived by his mother, Karen Taylor Dickerson; father, Thomas Dickerson and his brother, Marcus Dickerson (Vivienne Cooper, partner to Marcus and amazing friend to Dilon); his grandmother, Judy Taylor; his beloved aunts and uncles; many cousins; and so many amazing friends. Dilon attended Fisher College in Boston and then graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelor of applied Science in Fashion Merchandising/Textile Sciences. From an incredibly early age – Dilon was extremely interested in fashion, which he parlayed into internships with fashion houses in NYC and salons in Upstate, NY. When Dilon was 16 years old, he was invited to attend a one-week internship with People’s Revolution clothing line, in NYC – which fueled his desires to further pursue work in fashion. In addition, he was his family’s personal shopper who understood colors, patterns, and textures, as well as quality (loved luxurious clothing, shoes and skincare). Before Dilon became sick – he spent years doing background work in television shows and movies, and traveling throughout the US, sometimes to visit dear friends or to just see the world. In addition, Dilon loved visiting museums where art and history came together graphically and beautifully. Despite loving NYC and all it had to offer – Dilon respected and appreciated his roots here in Greene. Dilon was an avid hiker (dragged friends and family to his favorite spots); enjoyed traveling to visit friends; enjoyed the outdoors; loved animals; a good cookout with s’mores; music and dancing (LOTS of dancing); and he enjoyed celebrating the traditions of the holidays with his family and friends (decorating and cooking). Dilon was brutally honest and called things as he saw them and never backed away from an argument. He was a strong person who knew who he was and did not allow anything to stand in the way of what he wanted to experience, and to accomplish. Dilon embraced life fully, pursued his dreams with determination, and cherished his connections with those around him.
