Elbert G. "Bud" Mohr, 90 of Oxford passed away on February 3, 2015 at Binghamton General Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1924 in Greene a son of the late Elbert J. and Helen (Washburn) Mohr. On September 1, 1946 in Vestal he married Beatrice Brigham, who passed away on October 18, 2002.
Bud is survived by his children, Randy and Diane Mohr of Basye, VA, Gary and Carol Mohr of Afton, and Linda Mohr of Port Royal, SC; his sisters in law, Anne Mohr of Afton and Frances Mohr of Smithville Flats, and his grandchildren, Alana Whitney, Sarah Whitney, Kaitlin Mohr and Stacia Mohr. He is also survived by several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Marsha Mohr.
Bud, also known as Uncle Bud, was a graduate of Greene High School. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was a life member of Fort Hill Post, #376, American Legion and a member of Christie Rock Post #2782, VFW. He was a member of the Oxford Rod & Gun Club, the Oxford Rotary Club, the Oxford Lions Club and the Chenango County CB Club. He served as police officer for the Village of Oxford as well as working for the public works department. He also served as a Town of Oxford constable since 1953. He was a long time member of the Oxford Fire Department and served in the Fire Police. He was known for his sound trailer, serving at many community events, including the Rotary Auction and the Lions Horse Pull. He was known for his long time newspaper column "The Olde Tymer" in the Oxford Review-Times.
For many years he helped organize the Chenango County Picnic in Florida. He was a volunteer photographer at the NYS Veterans Home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 4:00 PM at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with Rev. David Hanselman, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made the Alzheimer's Association, 441 West Kilpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
