Elinor R. Troicke, 79 of McDonough passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2011 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. She was born on October 12, 1932 in Lyndhurst, NJ,
a daughter of the late George and Lillie (Greves) Blake, Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Edward F. Troicke of McDonough; her children, Eric and Donna Robb, James and Carrie Robb, Christopher Robb, Norman and Deb Troicke, Amy and Jim Baldwin, Clifford and Patricia Troicke, and Wayne and Patricia Troicke; her grandchildren, Erinn Troicke, Andrew and Nicole Troicke, Benjamin Troicke, Justin and Melissa Troicke, Ann and Adam Cattrel, Clifford and Savannah Troicke, Edward C. Troicke, Patty and Mike Ford, Jessica and Jason Whiting, Jessica and Todd St. Germain, Jodi and Jon Carey, Dylan Baldwin, Marisa Baldwin, and Noah Robb; her great grandchildren, Miranda Roche, Zachery Ford, Adelina Whiting, Dacia Whiting, Marielle St. Germain, Alaire St. Germain, Juliana Carey and Lucas Troicke; and her nieces and nephews, William Blake, Karen and Charles Henry, John Benecke, Douglas Benecke, Paul Benecke, Jane and Peter Scheckermann, , Robert Benson, Janet, Ralph, Kathy, Susan, and Dorothy Lee and families, and the Messing and Kuhn families. Several great nieces and great nephews also survive as well as her extended family.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Howard Robb; her sons David Robb and Martin Troicke; her brothers, Robert Blake and George Blake; and her sisters, Maybelle Byron and Alice Benson.
Elinor taught art at Oxford Academy and Central School for over 20 years and retired in 1989. She was a very active member of the McDonough United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and was involved in every function at the church. She had served as Cub Scout and Girl Scout leaders. She was co-founder of the McDonough Improvement Committee and was very devoted to the task of bringing the McDonough Library and Calvary Community Center to fruition. She served as the Town of McDonough historian. She was a member of the Chenango Piece Makers Quilt Club. She served as a docent at the Chenango County Historical Society. She was a member of the McDonough Recreation Committee and served on the Chenango County Youth Bureau for many years. She was a member of the Tuesday Evening Women's Club. She and Ed enjoyed traveling. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to everyone.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the McDonough United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Allyson Ellis, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, McDonough.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the McDonough United Methodist Church, 1728 State Highway 220, McDonough, NY or the McDonough Improvement Committee, 575 Creek Road, McDonough, NY.
