Erma J Carlin

Erma J. Carlin, 93 of Oxford, passed from this life to her next joining her husband Frank, her son Clifford, and the many loved ones gone before her. She was born in 1929, to Harry and Jennie (Eccleston) Monroe. She was the seventh of eight children, all of which she is now joined with. Sisters, Leona, Beatrice, Genevieve and Lila, and brothers, Richard, Clifford, and Wilson.  She was also predeceased by her grandson Joshua, and son-in-law Gary McLean.

Erma is survived by her daughters Debra Carlin (Jere Spethalf), Christine, and Teresa (Rod) Flood, and daughter-in-law Teresa Carlin. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, and by many great and great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Erma was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and a graduate of Oxford Academy High School, class of 1947. Our mom was a generous, and loving caregiver to many, including her parents and husbands’ parents in their later years. She was always there to give and to help anyone in her life. Every baby that came along was sure to receive a handmade quilt or blanket, and a sweater and hat, until her hands couldn’t make them any longer.  When she graduated from high school, she had the opportunity to go to college, but she chose to marry her high school sweetheart Frank, and she never regretted her choice. And boy are we glad she did. They had seventy-three great years together. She’s made all our lives richer and given us many fond memories. She was the best mom and gramma ever!
