On January 5th 2014, Ernest F. Muzzey, Jr (83) of Binghamton, NY (formally of Delmar, NY) peacefully left NYS Veterans Home at Oxford to be with the lord. Ernest was born on January 21, 1930 in Glens Falls, NY. He is survived by his loving "Sweetie" of six years, Jane Hessney, four children; Martin (Carol), Michael (Suzanne), Melanie (Dean) Friscic and Mindy Jo, six Grandchildren; Derek (Elana), Louie, Kirk, Dale, Lana and Michael and four Great Grandchildren.
At Ernest's request, a private Military Funeral will be held at the Saratoga National Cemetery at the family's convenience. He proudly served in the Navy (USS Okanogan) as an Electronics Technician and is a Korean War Veteran. The mission involving his attack transport ship, of which he was most proud, was the rescue and evacuation of over two thousand Korean civilians. He was discharged in 1952.
Ernest retired in 1994 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an Associate Engineer with the Physics Department. During retirement, Ernest served as Trustee Director of the Harry F Meiners Testamentary Trust which supported numerous Physics Dept. doctoral students at RPI.
He was a member of the Boulevard United Methodist Church, Johnson City, NY and the American Legion Post 80, Binghamton, NY.
The family extends gratitude to staff at NYS Veterans Home at Oxford and to friends and staff at Five Riverside Towers, Binghamton, NY.
