Frances "Peg" Sylstra

Frances “Peg” Sylstra, 94, of Oxford, NY. Passed away at her home on Monday, December 8, 2023. Peg was born in Norwich, NY, daughter of the late T. Berton and Flora (Lewis) Smith. Peg was predeceased by her husband Nicholas Sylstra and by her brother Charles Smith.

Peg is survived by her children Nicholas and Susan Sylstra, James and Carole Sylstra, and Cynthia and Harold Covey. Peg is also survived by her sisters Esther Wilson, Fern Pierce, Irma and David Petley, and Caroline and Robert Georgia. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Peg was a kind woman who enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She loved knitting and would often knit mittens and hats for various charities. She was also an integral part of the Guilford
Dairy, working side by side with her husband until the business was later sold. She will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved her.

Friends and family may call at the Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY 13830 on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 3:00PM-6:00PM. Funeral services for Peg will be officiated by Pastor Thanna Howell and held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 11:00AM at the Preston United Methodist Church located at 115 County Road 19, Oxford, NY 13830.
