Gerald Curtis Michael Roys passed away January 16, 2021 as a result of the rapid aggressive onset of COVID-19. Gerald was born In July 1954 in Oxford NY as the son of the late Arthur Roys and Grace Slaby Roys. He grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford Academy in 1973.
Gerald was smart, charming, quick-witted, a jack of all trades (he knows things ) a lover of music and song kind of guy with a heart of gold. PURE GOLD. Gerald was loved by all and has a personality that was unmatched.
Gerald attended Oxford Academy and was an athlete of many sports but was best acknowledged for his excellent achievements on the wrestling mat. After school he spent several years participating in the Sherburne softball league. Gerald enjoyed time spent during his children's youth as a Scout leader. He was a former board member to Chenango CO. United Way, as well as their golf chair. Gerald has been on the board of Norwich Telops FCU for many years.
Gerald loved being with family, playing golf, singing, tinkering with anything motorized and smoking cigars... paired with complimentary libations.
Gerald was employed in the telecommunications field right out of high school and remained there till the time of his death.
In 1979 Gerald married his surviving wife Pamela Swayze Roys. They were blessed with 2 boys and resided in Norwich since 1985.
Gerald is survived by his wife Pamela Swayze Roys. Son Eric M. Roys of Reisterstown Maryland. Son Seth Roys and his wife Shelbie Roys of Norwich, and 4 granddaughters Jordyn Slentz, Paige Roys, Emma Roys, and Zoe Jenkins all of Norwich. Sister Linda Roys-Jones of Oxford. Brother Bill Roys and wife Lynne of Oxford. Sister Betsy McCormack of Norwich. Brother in-law Mark Swayze and wife Sandra of Plymouth. Sister in-law Patricia (Mike) Crandall of DeRuyter, Brother in-law Mike Swayze of Sherburne. Countless adored Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and heartbroken dear friends.
God Rest your soul Gerald; you are missed beyond words and we are only in the beginning of this journey without you.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc, 21 Main Street, Oxford NY 13830. A private burial service will take place in Riverview Cemetery.
