James M Loomis

James “Woody” Loomis, 70 of Oxford, NY passed away on October 27, 2023, at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY.  He was born on February 25, 1953, in Oxford, a son of the late Lynn “Slugger” and Lucille Eaton Loomis. On September 1, 12984 in Calvary Episcopal Church, McDonough, he married Ann Duell, who survives.

Besides his wife, Ann; he is survived by his children, Steven and Carol Lynn Loomis of Oxford and Lindsay and Drew Smith of Spotsylvania, VA; his sister, Susan and James Downey of Norwich; his grandchildren, Liam and Ava Smith, Everett White, and Lyla Loomis. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends also survive.

Woody was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved his New York Giants and New York Yankees and Syracuse Orange. He played and coached many sports.  He was an avid golfer and loved playing horseshoes with his friends Terry Finch and Tom Loughren. He graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School. He worked at the Raymond Corporation for 46 years.

His biggest joy in life was watching his children play sports, which was year-round for both.
