Janet Covell D'Angelo

Mrs. Janet Covell D'Angelo, daughter of the late Ralph and Marion Covell, went to be with the Lord on September 30, 2022. She was born October 26, 1939, in Plymouth, NY. She attended public schools in Oxford and graduated from Oxford Academy in 1958. She attended Albany Business College and graduated in 1959 with a business degree.

She was married to Francis D'Angelo, who survives, on May 12, 1962.

After several strokes, Janet passed away at UHS Hospital in Norwich. She put up a brave fight to the very end of her life.

Following graduation from Albany Business College, Janet was employed by Norwich Pharmacal Co. which later became Procter and Gamble. She became an elite typist while there. After early retirement from the Pharmacy, Janet finished with retirement from the County as an Account Clerk/Typist.

Janet and her husband enjoyed cruising and spending two months of the winter at Myrtle Beach, SC. She also was fond of her many bus trips taken and trips to casinos. Janet was a competitive card player whether with family or friends. She was a very good bowler and had a high three game series of 696 and was voted into the Norwich Bowling Hall of Fame. After retirement, Janet spent many years volunteering at the Common Cents Thrift Store and working the St. Joseph's fish dinners which she totally enjoyed.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in her lives of her children: son, Francis (Diane) D'Angelo of Cleveland, NY; daughter Kathleen (Mike) D'Angelo of Clifton Park, NY and son, Matthew, deceased; grandchildren: Matthew (Elizabeth) D'Angelo of Albany, NY, Joshua D'Angelo of Central Square, NY, and Brittany D'Angelo of Cleveland, NY. sisters: Beverly Campbell of Oxford, Linda (Mike) Grant of Oxford, and Ellen (Jim) Ross of Oxford. brother: Larry (Diana) Covell of Oneonta. sister-in-law Linda Covell of Oxford. One brother, John, is deceased. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and one aunt survive.

Janet was a very kind-hearted person.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Janet’s memory can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Oxford Emergency Squad.

Friends and family may call at St. Joseph’s Church, Oxford, NY, on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 10:00 AM- 11:00AM. A memorial mass will follow at 11:00AM with Father Paul Machira officiating. Friends and family may share memories and condolences by visiting www.behefuneralhome.com .
