John f. sherman

John F. Sherman, 90 of Oxford passed away September 25, 2018 at Willow Point Nursing Home, Vestal. He was born on September 25,1928 in Bainbridge a son of the late Fred and Charlotte (Burton) Sherman.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Sherman; his children, Brett and Kim Sherman, Terry and Tim Kinter, Robin Sherman, Tracy and Eddie Roberson; his grandchildren, Ross and Annie Shaler, Kelsey Shaler and friend Aaron, Tim and Megan Kinter, Mikala Sherman, Bailey Sherman and Heather Hudlar; and his great grandchildren, Timmy Kinter, Emma Kinter, Addie Kinter, and Jackson Thomas.
John was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a very active and life member of Fort Hill Post #376, American Legion, where he had served as Commander several times, cooked at their weekly breakfast for many years and served in the Honor Guard. He was a past commander of the Chenango County American Legion. He was a member, life member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a life member of the Oxford Rod and Gun Club. He served on the General Clinton Canoe Regatta committee for many years. He was a member of Local #3, Mason Union. He was a member of Bainbridge Lodge F& AM. He enjoyed working around his home.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St. Oxford on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
