June Hart, 92, of Oxford, NY born on June 18, 1932 went gently into that goodnight on June 30, 2024.
June, daughter of Fred and Marian (Gratopp) Peters, was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Charles Peters and her precious cat, Shadow, who would always sit on her lap during the evenings and would often sleep with her on her bed.
June (Noni) and Thomas were married for 47 years and had five children, all of whom are survived: Christine (Michael) Flanagan; Joanne (Gary) Binelli; Tom (Evangeline) Hart; Terri Hart; and Jace Hart. She was also blessed with grandchildren: Lorri Race; Todd (Melanie) Binelli; Brian (Heather) Binelli; Kayla Hart and Jaclyn Hart; and several great-grandchildren: Alexis Race; Zackery Race; Kalie Binelli; Samantha Binelli; Hannah Binelli; Logan Binelli; and Emily Binelli.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Joann Brewer for her dedication, compassion and care to our Mom. We would also like to thank Deb Martinson (Golden Girls) for providing us with peace of mind for her nightly care of our Mom. The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County for their support.
For over 20 years, Noni worked as a daycare provider out of her home. She thought nothing of packing up food, snacks and drinks for 10 kids, loading them in the old wood-paneled station wagon and driving to Dorchester Park for an afternoon at the beach. The family would also like to recognize Barb Benjamin, a long time friend and travel companion.
Noni was a very passionate crafter who loved to knit, macramé, decoupage and plant flowers. Traveling was another one of her passions. Some of her travels included Hawaii, Missouri, Texas (to see her partner in crime, Bernice Gere (predeceased), Philadelphia (for the Flower Shows every year), New York City, Maine and Vermont. She enjoyed attending the Sherburne Pageant of Bands, the Memorial Day Parades in Oxford and McDonough, traveling to North Guilford Church and was a dedicated member of the Oxford Methodist Church. One of her fondest memories was being chosen as Mother of the Year by church members and having all her children in church with her that day.
Noni loved to bake and one of her many specialties was Boston crème pie. She often delivered her baked goods to various friends, family and local Post Office staff. Noni loved rocking on her front porch watching the world go by.
The family will receive friends at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main Street, Oxford on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 11:00 am to Noon. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford immediately following funeral services.
