Mary A. Camiel, 86 formerly of Philadelphia, PA passed away on January 29, 2014. She was born on July 27, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA a daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Wagner) Lawler. She was married to Joseph Camiel, who passed away on June 8, 2006.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Ann Conley of Canandaigua, NY, Michael Camiel of Lutherville, MD and Cathleen Camiel of Oxford, NY; her grandchildren, Karen Ann Mary Whitacre of Richmond, VA, Robert Conley, Jr. of Allentown, PA, Brendan Camiel of Baltimore, MD, Caitlin Camiel of Baltimore, MD, Adam Lawler Camiel, Jacob Aaron Camiel and Sarah Margaret Patricia Camiel all of Oxford, NY; and her great grandchildren, William Robert Whitacre, Joseph Charles Whitacre, Charles Hunter Whitacre and Brenna Camille Conley.
Mary was a long time resident of Philadelphia, PA prior to moving to Oxford, NY. She retired as Assistant Chief Crier for the Philadelphia Courts, where she was well known for being "Firm but Fair".
She was a member of the Ladies of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Philadelphia, and St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Oxford. She was an associate of the Dominican Retreat House in Elkins Park, PA. Her family was most important to her, especially her home cooking at the holidays and teaching pride and traditions. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, State St., Oxford, NY.
