Patricia Marks, 83 of Oxford passed away on November 11, 2013 at her home. She was born on March 16, 1930 in Oxford a daughter of the late Walter and Frances (Mulholland) Tansey. On October 16, 1948 she married Arthur Marks, who passed away on November 25, 2001.
She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Michael and Susan Marks of East Lyme, CT; Thomas and Carolyn Marks of Oneonta; and Richard and Shelly Marks of Oxford; her grandchildren, Derek, Jason, Erika, Kyle, Amanda and Christopher; her brother in law, Channing Pao; and her sisters in law, Viola Marks, Marie Marks and Diane Marks. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence Barber and her brother, Walter Tansey.
Pat was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School, where she worked as a playground aide, before becoming the beloved Nurse in the Primary School. She was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Oxford and helped with the funeral luncheon committee, as well as being active in the monthly fish fry. She was also a member of the Oxford Fire Department Auxiliary and helped them with serving food for bingo. In addition, she was always present as an election teller for voters on Election Day. She and Art were well known for raising the best sweet corn.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph's Church, State St., Oxford, NY.
