Phyllis g. schneider

Phyllis G. Schneider, 89, formerly of Apalachin, NY passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Norwich, NY. She was born on April 10th, 1924 in Apalachin, NY to Hugh and Wilma (Hills) Gardiner.
She is survived by her children Dale and Lea Schneider; Jan Street; Frank and Linda Hofmann; and Dean and Lynne Schneider. Her sister-in-law Pat Gardiner, as well as twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her siblings Hugh Gardiner, Jr., Bruce Gardiner, Mary Rivenburg, and Jean Darrah, as well as her brother-in-law Norman Darrah.
Phyllis was an active member of the Apalachin United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. After retiring from driving school bus for more than 30 years in the Owego-Apalachin School District, she kept busy by working at the Apalachin Library, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts.
Memorial services will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apalachin Fire Department or the Apalachin United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Behe Funeral Home Inc., 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY.
