Ralph A. Ardron, Jr., 85 of Oxford passed away on April 17, 2015 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. He was born on March 2, 1930 in McDonough a son of the late Ralph A. Ardron, Sr. and Winifred Barrows Ardron. On August 2, 1953 he married Joyce Bliven, who survives.
Besides his wife of 62 years, Joyce, he is survived by his children; Gregory R. Ardron, Sr. (Darlene), Debra A. Duncan (Randy), and Janet Stanton (Mark); his grandchildren, Gregory R. Ardron, Jr., Jessica Duncan (Thomas), Megan Duncan, Kyle Stanton, Allison Stanton, and Riley Stanton. He is also survived by his sister in law and brother in law, Grace and Stanley Bartle and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister and brother in law, Lillian Aldrich and Ray Aldrich.
Ralph was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School, Class of 1948 and he graduated from NYS Ranger School in 1951. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a pillar of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he served as Junior Warden, Acolyte, Lay Reader, Chalice Bearer, and grounds keeper for many years. He was awarded for his dedicated service to the Oxford Marching Band. He was recognized by Church Women United of Oxford for his dedication the Oxford Community Clothes Closet. He and Joyce received the DeWitt Clinton Award Community Service Award from Oxford Lodge #175 F&AM.
He enjoyed working with Chenango County Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed square dancing with the Broken Squares Dance Club. He was the groundskeeper for St. Joseph's Catholic Church for 10 years. He loved gardening and being outdoors. He retired from Proctor and Gamble after 34 years of service. He also served as a Boy Scout Leader.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM from St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Oxford with Rev. David Hanselman officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 5-8 PM. Members of Fort Hill Post will conduct a service at 7 PM at the funeral home.
