Richard L. DuBois, 85 of Oxford passed away on February 24, 2015 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 27, 1930 in Brockport, NY a son of the late Herbert S. and Jeanette (LaVier) DuBois. On November 30, 1958 in North Pitcher he married Shirley Mae Franklin, who survives.
Besides his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his children, Rick DuBois of Oxford, Richard L. DuBois of Heber, AZ and Paula and Roger Barrows of Oxford; his brother, Donald DuBois of North Pitcher; his sister, Patricia Conklin of Cortland and his grandchildren, Cassie, Kari, Catherine, Gabrielle, Alexandra and Joshua Barrows and Danielle Thompson and 10 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews, including his special nephew and niece Terry and Kelly DuBois, also survive. He was predeceased by his daughters, Diana DuBois and Shirley (Babe) DuBois; his sister Laverne and brothers Herbert and Paul Dean.
Dick attended Norwich and Oxford schools. He was the owner of DuBois Sand and Gravel and DuBois Equipment, where he bought and sold equipment. He enjoyed working on tractors and was a member of Tractors of Yesteryear. He had worked in construction for many years from the St. Lawrence Seaway to Arizona. He also built ponds and cabins to sell. He enjoyed camping, working in his shop, and traveling to Florida to spend winters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 4:00 PM at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with The Rev. David Hanselman officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
