Ruth i. fairchild

Ruth I. Fairchild, 82 of McDonough passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on December 3, 1932 in West Edmeston, NY a daughter of the late Howard and Frances (Jaquay) Maine. On October 15, 1955 in West Edmeston she married Richard Fairchild, who survives.
Besides her husband, Richard, she is survived by her children, Susan Eccleston and husband, Llewellyn, Robert Fairchild and fiancé, Jo McCarthy, James Fairchild and wife, Tierney, and Linda Mead and husband Charles; her siblings, Dorothy Prentice, David Maine, Ralph Maine, Phyllis McLean, Patricia Heeker and Rose Mary Lamphere; her grandchildren, Matthew, Derek, Rebecca, Alison, Maegan, Kasey, Macey, Amy, Lucas, Korey, Alicia, Hillary and John. She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Harold Maine, Bernard (Red) Maine and Stuart Maine and her grandsons, Herb and Charlie.
Ruth had worked as a nurse in New Berlin, the Bida Home in Oxford, Duell Nursing Home in McDonough and retired from the NYS Veterans' Home in Oxford. Very active in the community, she was a member of Kelley Grange, Pomona Grange, the New York State Grange and the National Grange. She was a member of the McDonough United Methodist Church, the McDonough Fire Department Auxiliary. The McDonough Emergency Squad, the McDonough Improvement Committee and the McDonough Food Pantry. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother. The family would like to express a special thank you to Diana Conklin for her excellent care provided to Ruth.
Friends may call at the McDonough United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 12 noon until 2:00 PM
Funeral services will be held at the Church at 2:00 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY.
