Stanislaw 'stosh' chmielewski

Stanislaw "Stash" Chmielewski, 77 of Norwich passed away on July 23, 2017 at Community General Hospital, Syracuse. He was born on March 6, 1940 in Poland a son of the late Czeslaw and Genowefa (Sienkiewicz) Chmielewski. On November 4, 1972 in Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Norwich he married Mariba Cecile Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Mariba Cecile Chmielewski of Norwich; his brother, Marek Chmielewski of Sturtevant, WI; his sister Anna Tonalska of Dzwnow, Poland; his sister in law, Cynthia Thompson and his brother in law, Raymond and Laurie Rogers. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his brother, Kasic.
Stash was a member of the National Laborer's Union, Local 7 of Ithaca. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork and being outdoors. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks and building things. He enjoyed Sudoku and World War II history. He was an accomplished boxer in Poland.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Rev. Steven White officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
