Walter j. pinney

On October 22,2018 Walter J. Pinney, Sr. 88 of Oxford left us to be with his wife Jean and brother Fred.
Walter worked for and retired from the New York State Department of Transportation after 32 years of service. As the "Bicycle Man" of Oxford, he either bought them, sold them, repaired them or gave them away to any child in the Oxford area. He loved his family, friends, garage sales, playing cards, telling jokes and stories that we can only hope to remember. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed.
He is survived by his daughter Barbara Pinney Wilson and Frank; sons Walter Pinney, Jr. and Lu-Ann, Wayne Pinney, and William Pinney; grandchildren, Tonya Aikens, Melissa Bresee, Heather Fowlston, Benjamin Pinney and Jessica, Scott Shakelton and Caitlyn, Kimberly Cerasani and David, Julie Pinney, Jourdan Pinney; brothers Kenneth Pinney, Sr and Richard Pinney; sisters, Cora Swartout and Marian Frair; sister in law Elizabeth Pinney. Many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his special friends at the State Barn.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:30 AM in the lower part of Riverview Cemetery, Oxford with his nephew Tom Pinney officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY 13830. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
