His name was William Patrick Bresee, however people called him Bill, Billy, Wild Bill, and the kids called him Grampa Buckley.
He grew up back and forth between Florida and New York. Bill attended Oxford Academy and Central Schools, and married Emily Bahn and had 2 children. Bill had his son last with Havey MacGuire and spent many years in Preston NY. During this time, he rode horses, hunted and worked on a variety of hot rods in his garage. Bill loved to go fast and build things that would take him fast.
Spending time with family and friends telling stories and drinking coffee or whatever else landed in his cup was his favorite pastime, no one could tell a story the way he could. He loved Teaching the next generations how to live off the land and how to build cool stuff out of raw materials. Bill loved his family deeply and was incredibly proud of them all. Small or large achievements, he was rooting for us all.
He had a green thumb and could grow anything, even in the hollow. He loved to use his green thumb to trade goods and services with friends. He preferred to stay away from mainstream anything, though he did love his Facebook. If he had anything, then his friends and family had it also. He believed people needed to slow down a look at nature’s beauty. He did not want to live by a clock or calendar and therefore he did not.
Bill owned and operated the Balsam Inn in East Pharsalia, NY for many years, he also Refurbished bowling alleys all throughout his life with a dear friend. Bill Built his own home and his garages from wood much of which he milled himself, he built things from stone, quarried from his own land throughout his adult life.
Bill had a deep connection and Love for animals…. well not squirls.
Bill is survived by his children William MacGuire, Tonya Adkins, and Melissa Stone. He is also survived by his grandchildren Miakoda Adkins, Cadreyn Adkins, Jade Manwarren, Tyler Poole, Landen Stone, Caden Stone along with many other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill is also survived by his siblings Scott Blackman Sherry Brooks, Penny Blackman, Brian Blackman, Teddy Bresee, and David Bresee. Bill is also survived by his mother Betty Porter.
Bill was predeceased by his father Leonard Blackman, and by his Stepmother Doris Blackman. He is also predeceased by Mark Blackman and Johnathan Bresee.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY. There will be no funeral services held at this time.
